TECHNICAL SUPPORT SCIENTIST
We are recruiting for a Technical Support Scientist to join our Alba Product Development & Support team based at our ARC site near Penicuik, EH26 0BF. This role is a full-time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week. Monday-Friday.
The role of our Technical Support Scientist involves supporting the department by performing testing and investigations, assisting with the stability programme and contributing to the efficient execution of technical tasks. Participate in continuous process improvements and ensure compliance with departmental and regulatory standards. Provide support for technical enquiries, customer complaints and product evaluations under the guidance of senior team members.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The main responsibilities will include:
- Conduct testing of raw materials, intermediate and final products to address technical enquiries and customer complaints, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and efficiently to meet departmental goals and drive results.
- Participate in the stability programme, including the preparation and testing of samples and ensuring accurate and timely documentation according to Good Documentation Practice, demonstrating accountability for high-quality work.
- Assist in reviewing and updating SOPs to align with regulatory and operational requirements, working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure shared understanding and compliance.
- Support validation and performance evaluations as required, fostering innovation by contributing ideas to improve testing methodologies and / or product performance.
- Prepare technical reports and documentation according to agreed scientific writing conventions, ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Provide input and assistance in product field trials and performance evaluations.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & BEHAVIOURS REQUIRED
- Relevant degree or equivalent qualification.
- Experience with basic laboratory techniques, including blood group serology.
- Good understanding of laboratory techniques and commonly used methodologies e.g., tube technique
- Ability to accurately document and analyse laboratory data.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including report writing and participation in team discussions
