SENIOR R&D SCIENTIST
We are recruiting a Senior R&D Scientist to join our Alba Product Development team based at our ARC site near Penicuik, EH26 0BF. This role is a full-time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week. Monday-Friday. The Senior Product Development Scientist will lead, co-ordinate, supervise and undertake Design and Development projects in the Product Development department of AliveDx.
YOUR MISSION
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Plan and deliver Product Development studies and projects with support from the Principal Scientist, Department Leader and the project managers
- Organise, co-ordinate and undertake development and / or process improvement work relating to progressing Product Development projects within agreed timelines.
- Lead collaborative studies, generating high quality data and mentoring/training less senior staff as necessary.
- Provide subject matter expertise and develop and maintain an up-to-date knowledge of best practice, market and competition, and state of the art to ensure the development of innovative projects and products.
- Lead the generation all documentation needed for the Development of the design such as development protocol and report, FMEA, process map, etc.
- Analyse and interpret complex data produced in studies and write progress reports including conclusions and proposed action in compliance with Design Control.
- Co-ordinate the activities of junior staff within the team to ensure rapid completion of work packages / protocols.
- Train staff in specific laboratory procedures to ensure that they can carry out the task independently according to local procedures.
- Prepare and review formal documentation (e.g. reports for collaborators, investors) in consultation with the Department Leader and Principal Scientists.
YOUR COMPETENCIES
- A Science degree
- Extensive experience in appropriate regulated laboratory/environment e.g. medical devices, pharma.
- Assay development and optimisation experience
- Experience of mentoring/ training of junior staff
- Statistical analysis tools, and excellent data interpretation skills.
- Recording and reporting on experimental outcome
